Eine Sonnenblende, die im Innenraum des Fahrzeugs angebracht werden kann, reduziert die Wärmeentwicklung im Auto. Allerdings nur um vier Grad gegenüber dem Referenzfahrzeug ohne Sonnenschutz.

DIE ROUTE WIRD NEU BERECHNET
Die Ausstellung Die Route wird neu berechnet spielt mit Fragmenten rund um das Thema Auto. Markus und Reto Huber haben unterschiedliche Aspekte dieses Themas in Fotografien, Objekten, Prints und Werktiteln aufgegriffen.
Die Route wird neu berechnet - in erster Linie kennen wir diesen Ausdruck, als Ansagetext des Navigationssystems in Fahrzeugen. Wir hören diesen Satz häufig dann, wenn wir uns verfahren haben, also uns auf Abwegen befinden, von einer computergesteuerten Stimme aus dem Lautsprecher unseres Autos. Die Route wird neu berechnet will uns Orientierungslose also wieder auf den „richtigen“ Weg bringen. So klar und pragmatisch diese Ansage ist, eröffnet sie im Ausstellungskontext ganz neue Ebenen und das ist bezeichnend für die Arbeit von huber.huber. Auf den ersten Blick beeindruckt das Werk von huber.huber durch die formale Ästhetik, die Kompositionen wirken harmonisch, ruhig, fast harmlos. Jedoch bei längerer Auseinandersetzung beginnt diese Harmonie zu zerfallen, wir entdecken Irritationen und geraten aus der Spur. Das Werk eröffnet uns eine weitere Ebene, in welcher wir mit aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Themen konfrontiert werden wie CO2-Ausstoss, Klimaerwärmung, Neophyten, Mikroplastik, Feinstaub.
Das Rad, resp.der Reifen, als Fragment des Autos, zieht sich wie ein geschlossener, dynamischer Kreis durch die Ausstellung. Das Rad als Sinnbild für Erneuerung, Wiedergeburt, Kosmos und des Zyklischen ist kunsthistorisch meist positiv konnotiert. Das Lebensrad und das Glücksrad sind durch ihre Bewegung und den immerwährenden Wechsel Sinnbild des rollenden Schicksals und der Zeit. Kultur- und Kunst-geschichtlich stossen wir immer wieder auf das Rad, die imposanten, faszinierenden Medizinräder der Prärieindianer, das Fahrrad-Rad von Marcel Duchamp. Das Rad als Symbol des Fortschritts, des Vorankommens, dem Rausch der Geschwindigkeit aber auch des endlosen Drehens, ohne irgendwo anzukommen.
Natürlich steht das Rad noch heute für diese Eigenschaften und die Revolution der Mobilität. Aber mit der technologischen und zivilisatorischen Entwicklung und den aktuellen gesellschaftlichen Fragestellungen wirft das Rad, resp. der Reifen neue Assoziationen auf. Gilt doch der Autoreifen als grösster Produzent von Mikroplastik.
Reifenabrieb der als Mikroplastik und Feinstaub Boden, Luft und Wasser belastet. huber.huber macht in ihrem Werk die Ambivalenz deutlich. Sie nutzen ihren künstlerischen Ausdruck, Feinstaub und Mikroplastik - fürs menschliche Auge unsichtbar - sichtbar zu machen. Wie in ihrer Arbeit New Age - vier im Batik-Print bedruckte Baumwolltücher. Hierfür haben sie den Feinstaub aus ihrer Umgebung eingesammelt und als Pigment für das Einfärben des Stoffes im legendären 60iger Jahre Print verwendet.
Ihre Arbeit „Biotope“ zeigt mit Wasserhyazinten bepflanzte Autoreifen, die mit Werkstattleuchten ausgeleuchtet sind. Sie verweisen damit auf das ambivalente Verhältnis zwischen Zivilisation und Natur. Obwohl als Autoreifen ausgedient, entsprechend rezykliert sie immer noch einen hohen Wert an wichtigen Rohstoffen hätten, werden sie wild deponiert oder eben als Blumenkisten verwendet. Wild deponiert werden sie häufig zu unangenehmen Brutstätten und kleinen Biotopen.
Die Route wird neu berechnet zeigt uns unser Scheitern auf, doch nicht mit dem Hammer, sondern subtil und ironisch.
Die Route wird neu berechnet birgt aber auch Hoffnung. Entwicklungen die gemacht werden können, neue Verbindungen die eingegangen werden. Es eröffnet uns Ideen neue Biotope und Habitate zu kreieren. Bis es vielleicht irgendwann heisst: ….„Sie sind am Zielpunkt angekommen“

The exhibition DIE ROUTE WIRD NEU BERECHNET(The route is recalculated) plays with fragments around the theme of the car. Markus and Reto Huber have taken up different aspects of this theme in photographs, objects, prints and work titles.
The route is recalculated - we know this expression first and foremost as the announcement text of the navigation system in vehicles. We often hear this sentence when we have lost our way, i.e. when we are on the wrong track, from a computer-controlled voice coming from the loudspeaker of our car. The route is being recalculated to bring us, the disoriented, back on the "right" path. As clear and pragmatic as this announcement is, it opens up entirely new levels in the exhibition context, and that is characteristic of the work of huber.huber. At first glance, huber.huber's work impresses with its formal aesthetics; the compositions seem harmonious, calm, almost harmless. However, upon prolonged examination, this harmony begins to disintegrate, we discover irritations and get off track. The work opens up another level in which we are confronted with current social issues such as CO2 emissions, global warming, neophytes, microplastics, fine dust.
The wheel, or rather the tyre, as a fragment of the car, runs through the exhibition like a closed, dynamic circle. The wheel as a symbol of renewal, rebirth, cosmos and the cyclical has mostly positive connotations in art history. The wheel of life and the wheel of fortune are symbols of rolling fate and time through their movement and perpetual change. In terms of culture and art history, we repeatedly come across the wheel, the imposing, fascinating medicine wheels of the Plains Indians, the bicycle wheel of Marcel Duchamp. The wheel as a symbol of progress, of moving forward, the intoxication of speed but also of endless turning without arriving anywhere.
Of course, the wheel still stands for these qualities and the revolution of mobility today. But with the technological and civilisational development and the current social issues, the wheel, or rather the tyre, raises new associations. After all, car tyres are considered the biggest producer of microplastics.
Tyre wear pollutes soil, air and water in the form of microplastics and fine dust. huber.huber makes the ambivalence clear in their work. They use their artistic expression to make fine dust and microplastic - invisible to the human eye - visible. As in their work New Age - four cotton cloths printed in batik print. For this, they collected the fine dust from their surroundings and used it as pigment to dye the fabric in the legendary 60s print.
Their work "Biotope" shows car tyres planted with water hyacinths and illuminated with workshop lights. They thus refer to the ambivalent relationship between civilisation and nature. Although they are no longer used as car tyres, they would still have a high value as important raw materials if recycled, but they are dumped in the wild or used as flower boxes. When dumped in the wild, they often become unpleasant breeding grounds and small biotopes.
The route is recalculated shows us our failure, but not with a hammer, but subtly and ironically.
But the route is recalculated also holds hope. Developments that can be made, new connections that can be made. It opens up ideas to create new biotopes and habitats. Until perhaps at some point it says: .... "You have arrived at your destination".
